Terracotta
Terracotta, also known as Saltillo or Mexican tile, is one of the oldest and most distinctive flooring materials used around the world. Its handcrafted nature, rich earthy tones, and natural imperfections give it a warm, rustic character that adds charm to any space. But while visually striking, terracotta is also a highly porous and delicate surface that requires expert care.

Whether your tiles are faded, stained, or just in need of a little attention, we’ll help restore their color, character, and longevity without compromising their handmade appeal.
Understanding Terracotta and Saltillo Tile
Saltillo tile is a form of terracotta made from natural clay sourced primarily from Saltillo, Mexico. It is traditionally shaped and sun-dried before being kiln-fired, resulting in beautiful imperfections that make each tile one-of-a-kind.
Deep Cleaning
We start by removing layers of embedded dirt, wax residue, or old sealers using gentle, pH-neutral products that won’t strip the surface or alter the tile’s natural tone.
Gentle Polishing
If your tiles have become dull, cloudy, or uneven, we can perform a light polishing to refine the surface and bring out their natural vibrancy—without applying heavy synthetic coatings or compromising their texture.
Sealing & Protection
Terracotta must be sealed to resist stains and moisture. We use breathable, penetrating sealers that protect the tile from the inside out while maintaining a natural, low-luster finish—or we can apply a satin sealant for a subtle sheen that enhances the clay’s earthy warmth.
